The NIOS course syllabus for the SSLC level qualification has 13 subjects including language subjects. Out of these a candidate can select 5 subjects. Of these 5 subjects, 2 language subjects are compulsory. The remaining 3 subjects can be chosen as the candidate wishes. Except for the language subjects, all the other subject exams can be written in either English or Malayalam.

Candidates must note that while opting for Science and Technology, Home Science and Data Entry Operations groups, they will have to appear for both theory and practical exams.


Highlights of the Course

  • The course is offered by the National Institute of Open School, a central government initiative, established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of India in 1989.
  • Students have the option of completing both SSLC and Plus Two Courses as correspondence courses.
  • The NIOS conducts exams during the months of April and October every year.
  • The qualification is equivalent to SSLC and Plus Two courses offered by the State Government.
  • Successful candidates on completion of the course are eligible to apply for and pursue medical, engineering, IT and other professional courses.
  • This qualification is accepted by all major Indian Universities.
  • Successful candidates will also be eligible to apply for PSC and SSC examinations.
  • The course can be completed successfully by the candidates within a year.
  • The NIOS has approved exam centers across all districts of Kerala and throughout India. Candidates can also appear for the exams at our Gulf affiliate centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.

  • Science group students must compulsorily attend the contact classes.
