A recognized 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent in any branch of engineering. (No marks restriction).
Or
A valid Plus Two/HSC/PDC qualification with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and with a minimum of 45% marks.(Please note that the aggregate marks must also be 45% and above.)

Those canididates who pursue AMIE after their Diploma course are usually categorized as Diploma Stream Students (Senior Technician Members), and others are known as Non-Diploma Stream Students (Technician Members).

Course Details
- The syllabus of AMIE is similar to a traditional B.E/B.Tech course.
- The AMIE syllabus is made up of two parts:- Section A and Section B.
- Those canididates who join for AMIE should first study and clear all subjects in Section A. Based on one's level of educational qualification, the total number of subjects in Section A varies.
- After passing Section A, he will be eligible to study for Section B. The total number of subjects in Section B is 9.
